Meet the AUTHOR
Chris Norgaard is a lawyer in downtown Los Angeles. He formerly headed the Los Angeles litigation department of a major international law firm and has been a senior litigation partner in several Los Angeles firms during his 39 year career. He has served as lead litigation counsel in a number of prominent cases in the areas of intellectual property, banking, bankruptcy, unfair competition and real estate. These cases have included published appellate decisions that have made law in California and the federal Ninth Circuit, including the Ninth Circuit’s decision governing implied copyright licenses. He was lead litigation counsel for one of the world’s major banks in one of the largest banking cases in California history, and he represented a client in one of the largest insurance cases in California. He has also represented clients in on-line copyright infringement cases, continuing a series of significant intellectual property and antitrust matters that began in the late 1970’s. He has authored a number of articles on copyright and antitrust issues, and has been quoted frequently in the media on copyright matters.
He is a graduate of Middlesex School, Stanford University (A.B.), and the Georgetown University Law Center (J.D.).
